If The Shoe FITZ

Donald Treagan

Call me naive, but one of the big issues I think most of these days that we have is that everything politicians seem to do  is whatever it takes to get re-elected.

I think we would probably also agree that we have just seen that play out in the recent election with Donald Trump widening his appeal with the rural voters and those who feel disenfranchised and left behind.

He was clearly very effective in feeling the pulse of the nation and the results seem to unequivocally back that

He even trotted out in recent rallies that great "Reaganism"

"Ask yourself the question, do you feel better off today than 4 years ago"

But here is the thing....

He is no longer going to running for re-election again  -EVER. That makes a difference (especially for a larger-than-life character with a larger-than-life ego.

This time around it is not about building for another 4 years , it is about his legacy

As a consequence, I cannot help but feel that this "takes the edge" off a lot of the stated policies that might seem "a bit extreme" and actually leads him to focus more intently on policies that improve the economic and political backdrop.

Sure, it will be done with his traditional "barnstorming approach" but that may also be effective in many instances in getting results.

As I said, that might be naive and it probably is, but I think it is "Food for thought"
